REID, Cecil Seymour   -   September 9, 1924 - July 20, 2022

Cecil Reid passed away peacefully, at Michael Garron Hospital, in Toronto.

He was 97 years old and lived a beautiful, full life of service to family, friends, community, and God.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Edna.

They were married for 66-plus beautiful years.

Beloved father of Brian, Karen (Debbie Samson) Tony and Keith. Survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Reid in New York.

Predeceased by his infant son, David (1959). Cherished by many dear relatives and friends. Cecil grew up in Bridgetown, Barbados, alongside his 7 siblings. He worked in the oil rigs in Curacao before coming to Toronto to study journalism at Ryerson in 1953. H

e had an established career as an editor at The Canadian Press for 34 years. Cecil was an avid sportsman, playing cricket at a high level in every country he lived. He embraced Toronto Sports teams through all their trials and tribulations.

Visitation will take place at Giffen-Mack & Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., on Wednesday, July 27th, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at St. John's Norway Anglican Church, 470 Woodbine Ave., Toronto, at 12 p.m., on Thursday, July 28th. Followed by a private family interment.

COVID protocols will be in place for all events.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cecil's name to the Barbara Turnbull Foundation for Spinal Cord Research or Donald Moore Scholarship Fund.
