VEIDEMANIS, Olgerts - 1935 - 2022 With deep sadness, we share news of Olly's passing on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in his 87th year, after a two year battle with cancer.
Born in Liepaja, Latvia, Olly's family fled the war when he was 8 years old and landed in England, where he grew up with a combination of Latvian and English habits.
At 21, he arrived in Canada before his parents and settled in Toronto.
He made his living as a designer of building sprinkler systems and talked enthusiastically about the many prominent buildings that he worked on in his career.
He was predeceased by his much loved wife, Marta Roze; and leaves behind his stepchildren, Antra, Gatis and wife, Jolie; grandchildren, Ariya and partner, Richy, and Grayson and wife, Hannah.
He will be mourned by the extended Roze, Arajs, Gertners, Purvs, and Gutmanis families and missed by the Latvian Baptist community, and his neighbors on Withrow Avenue.
At Olly's request, a cremation and private interment will take place.
He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humour and his generosity.
Deeply loved. Sorely missed.
