OBrien DermotO'BRIEN, Dermot Patrick Damien   -  1960 - 2022  Dermot passed peacefully in his sleep, September 28th, at the age of 62, which, as Dermot himself would have said, was far too soon and not part of the plan at all.

It's hard to understand why one of the kindest, most generous people was taken from us.

Dermot (we're talking about you here) had so much life to live, love in his heart, art to create, ales to drink, and always some astute but hilarious observation lurking at the tip of his tongue.

The term "larger than life" was created for Dermot.

Sharon, his loving wife of 37 years to that day, will miss Dermot's laugh, his undying love and his unending support for her in good times and bad. He's the one person she wishes she could talk to about her grief.

Their children, Siobhan and Aidan, will miss his love, laughter and guidance too. His mother, Patricia O'Brien, his brothers, Mike (Marcy), Kevin (Susan), Dan (Tina) and Sean (Lara) as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, extended family and many many friends, now live on in a world diminished by Dermot's absence.

At least his leaving was gentle and painless, but far too soon for those he left.

Dermot's wish upon his death, was to be catapulted into the field next door, but that involves a lot of red tape.

As well as a catapult. And who knows?

If there really is a Heaven, it will be easy to spot Dermot there; he's the angel dressed in yellow, wearing yellow-rimmed glasses, painting something glorious on a cloud canvas to guide Sharon, Siobhan and Aidan on their continuing life's journey.

Then his fellow angels will gather around and they'll all consume many delicious ales and he'll make them all laugh their wings off.

In lieu of a time machine, the family hopes to create a bursary for an emerging OCAD student in Dermot's name.
