Adamson GeorgeADAMSON, George William   -  Peacefully, on November 11, 2022.

George lost his beloved wife, Eileen, in 2021. They had been married for 74 years.

Born April 10, 1926, the eldest of 5 sons born to William and Barbara (Allan), survived by brother, Bill (Marlene).

After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII in the St. Lawrence, chasing and locating enemy subs, he returned to Toronto to become an optician, eventually serving terms as President of its Association, and often teaching classes at local community colleges.

George and Eileen married in 1947 and had 4 children: David, who sadly passed in July, Donald, Nancy (Fred) and Cathy (Paul).

George was so proud of his family and liked to say "Look what we did, Eileen!" if we were all amassed together. Left behind are his cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Kourtney, Joel, Jessica, Jake, Sarah, Hayley and Matt; and great-grandchildren: Charlie, Chase, Maverick, Syve, Ari, Miles, Andrew, Juniper, Josephine, Hank and MacKenzie.

While George enjoyed his work, he was active in life, be it curling, skiing, boating, hockey, golf, or simply puttering around the house. Those close to him knew he was a soup maker extraordinaire.

He was always one to share his opinion. He received Community Living's Volunteer of the Year award in his 80s. He always had a project and rarely sat idle. He and Eileen enjoyed an active social life with many friends now departed.

They also travelled often over the years. It was a full and happy life.

If we had to sum up what George meant to us or what were his strengths, we'd say he provided a safe and loving home.

He was a steadfast provider, a wonderful father, a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and just a good man. No legacy is better than that. Cremation has taken place.

A private memorial will be held in spring. The family would like to thank Amica Dundas for its exceptional care.

Lastly, heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to Cathy, to recognize her unwavering care and attention over the last 3 years. RIP GeoW.
