Hazlett AndrewHAZLETT, Andrew (Andy) Griffith  -   Dec. 5, 1924 - Dec. 14, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew Griffith Hazlett announces his passing on December 14, 2022, in his 99th year.

Andy will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 73 years, Joan Mary (nee Currie); his children: Andrew, Ian, Brian (Jill) and Beverley (Jay); his grandchildren: Andy, Duncan, James, Alexandra, Ivan, Gail, Leslie, Heather, Graham and Stuart; his great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Isla, Cameron, Sean, Colton, Bryson and Austin.

Andy is survived by his brother, Garth (Betty), and his family, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Andy was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara; his parents, Andrew and Winnifred (nee Griffith) Hazlett; and his brothers, Frank, Douglas and Donald.

Andy was born at home in what was then known as the Village of Forest Hill, where he grew up and attended school.

He joined the Army in 1943, and was assigned to different regiments, including: Toronto, Woodstock Ontario; Gander, Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Brockville, Ontario. After WWII, Andy attended Agricultural College in Kemptville, Ontario, and then graduated from The University of Guelph's Ontario Agricultural College.

In 1949 he married his sweetheart, Joan Currie. They set up house in Toronto, and before long, a farm in Cookstown was a welcomed addition. Andy and Joan happily raised their 5 children, enjoying both city and country life, until finally settling permanently on their farm. Along with all the typical farm responsibilities, Andy enjoyed raising and showing Arabian horses and Suffolk sheep.

A family funeral was held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
