Smith JeanSMITH, Jean (nee MACFARLANE)  -  It is with immense sadness that the family announces the passing of Jean Smith on March 25, 2023.

She died at Toronto General Hospital following a brief illness.

She was 88 years young.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken; and by her brother, Alan. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Leon) and Annie.

They adored her. She is also survived by her sister, Louise; four grandchildren, Nicole (Scott), Chris (Vanessa), Michael and Katie (Mike); and two great-grandchildren, Addie and Lily.

They also adored her. When she passed, her room was filled with a tremendous amount of love.

Her son-in-law, along with her grandchildren and their spouses were with her, while her daughters each held a hand until she took her final breath. Many, many tears were – and will be – shed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team who cared for Jean in her final days.

This includes the paramedics, the emergency room medical staff, and the doctors and nurses who compassionately took her to the end. It was evident that they didn't simply care for her; they also cared about her. Jean was an animal lover to the core of her being.

In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that donations be made in her name to The Toronto Humane Society at: torontohumanesociety.com Rest in peace, Jean Smith.

Yours was a life very well lived.
