Groves WarrenGROVES, Warren D.  -

March 5, 1926 - April 10, 2023

On April 10, 2023, we said goodbye to our amazing father, at 97 years of age.

We are grateful for having him in our lives for as long as we did.

Dad was adored by his daughters, Cynthia Bellman, Wendy Hayden and Nancy (Alan) Groger; and loved by his grandchildren, Christopher and Carolyn (Erik Solarski) Hayden.

Dad lived in Toronto his entire life and could recount all kinds of stories about the history of the city. He loved being outdoors, suntanning, fishing, birdwatching and gardening.

Best of all, he liked to be at the head of the table with family, enjoying home-cooked dinners and lots of red wine.

Warren was a WWII veteran and member of the Royal Canadian Legion; he was proud of his service, but preferred to keep his active service experiences largely to himself.

He became a stationary engineer and worked at the CBC for over 30 years.

Always strong and resilient, in the last six years Dad recovered from a stroke, the pandemic and the challenges of vascular dementia with grace and determination.

A private family service has been planned.

For those who wish, donations can be made to the Sunnybrook Foundation Veterans Program or to a Charity of Your Choice.
