TANGNEY, Anthony (Tony) Michael   -  Tony died at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, on April 22, 2023.

He was the much loved husband of 52 years to Carole; dear father of Michael, Richard (Megan), David (Mary); and loving and loved Grandpa (Big Tone) of Blake, Luke, Emma, and Owen.

Tony's roots were in Rapahoe, New Zealand; he lived in Auckland and Christchurch while attending university, and began his teaching career at Greymouth High School. He came to Canada in 1968 to teach History and Geography at Central Technical School in Toronto.

He was an active member of TRANZAC, the Leaside Tennis Club, and St. Anselm's Parish, and participated over the years in many Leaside Community activities with his three sons.

He is fondly remembered by his family and his many nieces and nephews in Canada, New Zealand, and the U.K. Tony's family would like to thank everyone for their support during his final illness.

Thanks to all our friends, particularly "the usual suspects," neighbours, the Temmy Latner Palliative Care team, the PSW's who looked after Tony at home, and Sunnybrook Palliative Care.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1st.  The funeral for Tony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 2nd in St. Anselm's Parish, 1 MacNaughton Road, Toronto and will be followed by interment.

If desired, donations in lieu of flowers to the Sunnybrook Foundation, K1 East, Palliative Care, or the Temmy Latner Palliative Home Care Team in memory of Tony would be appreciated.
