Telfer AlanTELFER, Alan Cassels  - Peacefully, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in his 96th year, at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Survived by his darling wife of sixty-four years, Elva (Trotter).

Predeceased by his brother and dear friend, Glenholme Falconbridge Telfer.

Greatly missed by his daughter, Sarah (Jody Mangiardi); and his sons, Philip and Peter (Susan); and grandchildren, Oliver (Amira Maddison), Henry, Grace, Emma and Amy. Alan was born to Alan Foster Telfer and Dorothy Mary (Cassels) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1928, but grew up in Toronto and attended Jarvis Collegiate and Upper Canada College.

He shared with his children his love of birding and fishing, exploring with them fields, creeks and forests, identifying wildflowers along the way. Like his father, he compiled the memories of his life in scrapbooks, which we will cherish. Alan loved the Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays and travelled around Ontario with his children to attend university football and junior hockey games.

Alan will be remembered most for being an adoring father, grandfather and husband who loved his family unconditionally. Alan was a positive force who uplifted others with his smile and his generosity of spirit. 'Goodnight sweet prince, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest….' The funeral will take place on June 8, at St. Jude's Anglican Church, Oakville at 11 a.m., and afterwards at the Oakville Club. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Community Living Oakville.
