BARCI, Concetta  -  Peacefully, at Deerwood Creek Care Community, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in her 101st year.

Cherished wife of the late Francesco Barci.

Loving mother of Rose (the late James) Perdue, and Remigio Barci.

Admired grandmother of Edward (Loretta) Perdue and Stephanie (Robert) Hofmann; and great-grandmother of Emily, Jacob, Jordan, Adrianna and Cameron.

Concetta, belovedly known as "Ma" to all, was born in the province of Cosenza, Italy. She immigrated alone with their four year old daughter, Rose, to Canada in 1957 to join her husband.

Together, they worked hard to follow their Canadian dream and build a better life for their family.

Alongside Cheech (Pa), she built her home and her family with strength and determination, never abandoning her true Calabrese roots. She was happiest in her garden and kitchen, where she perfected her infamous lasagna and polpette.

There was always room at her table for one more.

Resting at Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, 2058 Kipling Ave. (north of Rexdale Blvd.), on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Airways Church, 7407 Darcel Ave., on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, and to honour Ma's love of feeding others, the family would appreciate donations to the Mississauga Food Bank (www.themississaugafoodbank.org/).
