SPEIRS, Michael John  -

September 24, 1952 - September 28, 2023

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Michael John Speirs on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the age of 71.

Mike (or Mikey, as he was affectionately known) was the most loving father to Katherine Speirs (Ryan Giffen); and devoted and loving partner to Ann "Annie" Caulfield for 26 years.

He is also survived by his brothers, David Speirs and Chris Speirs. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret Speirs; and brother, Robert Speirs.

Mike was a graduate of the University of Toronto, a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and worked hard to become a Certified Management Accountant.

Most of all, Mike was an incredible father, partner and friend, who had the biggest and most generous heart. He made friends everywhere he went. He had a great sense of humour and was always joking around, and took as good of a ribbing as he would get from his friends.

We are most thankful that he got to finally take his trip to Scotland in May, something he had been planning for years. He loved his time over there, exploring the towns and castles and cemeteries for his ancestry, and he of course managed to make a few new friends at the pub over dinner and pints.

Dad/Mikey, we love and miss you, and look forward to the day we can be together again.

A service is to take place on Thursday, October 5th at Jerrett Funeral Home, 1141 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto. Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., with service to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date.

If anyone wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
