TOWNSEND, Carol Ann   - Retired R.N.  We are very saddened to announce that Carol died on October 26, 2017 peacefully, at Ian Anderson House hospice in Oakville.

Carol was born in Lindsay, Ontario, in 1936, the third of four children of Dr. J.B. and Dorothy Cramer.

She was predeceased by her brother Barry and is survived by her brother Jack (Anna) and sister Mary. Beloved wife of Gerry for 59 years. Much loved mother of Geoffrey (Natalie and their children Alexander and Nicole), Victoria (Stephen and their children Jaxson, James and Jordan), Christopher (Brit and their children Dana and Addy) and Paul (Katrina and their children Jonah (Rebecca), Brianna, Thalia and Rhea).

Carol (known as Cara by her grandchildren) was a loving and very proud grandmother of her eleven wonderful grandchildren. Carol will be missed by her sister-in-law Barbara and brother-in-law Roly and her many nieces and nephews. Carol was a Registered Nurse, graduating from Royal Victoria Hospital's Training School for Nurses in Montreal in 1957.

Carol was also involved in many volunteer activities including The Cancer Society and was a founding director of the Credit Valley Hospital and the inaugural Chairman of the Credit Valley Hospital Volunteer Association.

Carol received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of her significant contribution to community and Canada.

The family wishes to extend much gratitude to the Mississauga Halton LHIN for their outstanding home care service and support. A special thank you to the incredible team at Ian Anderson House for their attentive, gentle care of Carol.

A funeral service will be held at Erindale United Church, 1444 Dundas Crescent, Mississauga, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, followed immediately by a reception.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Ian Anderson House and/or the Erindale United Church would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements with Turner & Porter "Neweduk".
