KODAMA, Fumiye  - June June 7, 1928 – November 12, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of June Fumiye Kodama (nee Bando) on November 12, 2017.

She passed peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She recently lost her devoted husband Minoru (Mike).

Mom will be dearly missed by her children: Ron (Sue), Randy (Tracy), Rick (Francyne) and Sharon, grandchildren David (Lanna), Erin, Danielle, Heidi (Scott), Andrea (Scott), Melissa, Kristen and Kevin and great-grandchild Matilda.

June was born in Vancouver and as a young woman, moved with her family to Toronto after the war. Mom was an excellent professional seamstress and worked tirelessly to help support the family. After marrying Min, they built and owned several successful businesses. She was a loving mother who cared for the children and supported her husband.

When they retired in their 60s, mom continued her passion for Japanese cooking, crafts and ballroom dancing. She and her sister Joyce loved to play the penny slots! We will all miss her very much. Friends and family will be welcomed at Highland Funeral Home – Markham Chapel, on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

A private family funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers and koden, memorial donations may be made to the Toronto Buddhist Church or the Canadian Lung Association with appreciation from the family.
