VADER, Verna (nee Darling)   - Born in Lyn, Ontario, on September 13, 1922, the eldest of four children born to Wells and Anna Darling.

Verna passed away in Toronto on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

She attended Lillies Public School, a one-room schoolhouse, and later, Brockville High School where she graduated and attended a one-year business course, moved to Toronto in 1939 and worked on Bay Street.

In Toronto, she met her greatest friend of all, Allan.

They were married on September 9, 1942 and enjoyed more than 70 years of marriage, entirely devoted to each other.

Most of their married life was spent in Leaside. Verna and Allan had two daughters; Lynn in 1943 and Laurie in 1945. Grandchildren Lynda, Carolyn, Sharon and Glenn were all much loved by their grandmother; also great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Lauryn and Mark, Zoe, Anna and Henry, Zachary and CJ.

Verna will be sadly missed by her entire family and many friends. Allan and Verna were longtime members of Northlea United Church and Leaside United Church. Verna was an excellent homemaker.

She loved her social activities such as bridge clubs, charter member of Leaside Curling Club, and a longtime member of the Leaside Lawn Bowling Club.

A special thank you from the family to Arlene Reyes who provided daily care for Verna for the past three years.

A private family service has been held.

If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
