DEAN, Ruth - 96 years of age, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Parksville.
Ruth was born June 22, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Paul and Theresa Nagy.
She was the second-youngest of 13 children and is survived by her sister Helen Sylander.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Howard Dean and son, Grieg Dean. She is survived by four children, Gary (Carmen) Dean, Dixie (Tony) Fuller, Deborah Dean and Ruth (Doug) Rathy; ten grandchildren, Lisa (Peter) Woo, Greg (Angela) Dean, Teresa Latzel, Kelly Latzel, Christopher Donaldson, Devon Dean, Deanna Chisholm, Pierce Rathy, Braiden Rathy and Spencer Rathy; and eight great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed spending time with family, laughing, dancing and music. She will be remembered for being fun-loving, positive, extremely gracious, loving, generous and always wearing a smile.
A service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 965 Little Mountain Road, Parksville. Burial will follow on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nanaimo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ruth's name to the MS Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
