FATTORI, Lisa Dawn (née Sills) - Of Willow Beach, Ontario, passed away at home with her family at her side, on Tuesday December 19, 2017, at the age of 55.

Lisa is survived by her children, Emma Lynn Fattori and Jaret Liam Fattori; her husband, Ross Fattori; her sister, Beth Sills (André Tessier) of Kingston, Ontario; and her brother Charles Sills (Karen Sills) of Vancouver, British Columbia.

In 1984, Lisa graduated with an Honors Degree in English and History from Queens University in Kingston. She moved to Toronto in 1985, where she began working in the publishing industry.

She was also a gifted poet, freelance writer and successful business owner whose greatest joy was spending time with her beloved children and creating shared moments with family and friends. Her razor sharp wit, keen intelligence and compassionate nature endeared her to people of all ages.

Whether she was discussing the finer points of preparing Traditional Beef Rouladen, defending the philosophical teachings of John Stuart Mill or weighing in on the important political issues of the day, Lisa's breadth of knowledge was great, and her gift of language was masterful. Some of her most strident views and pithy observations about life, beauty, religion and culture included words and phrases that are not suitable for a local newspaper, but which will doubtless live on in memory with those who knew her best. Above all, Lisa valued truth, honesty and fairness in people, and the pursuit of excellence.

Throughout her illness, Lisa displayed incredible courage and dignity, and she never lost her love of life and unique sense of humor ("Pretty soon it will be time to break out the egg salad sandwiches and Nanaimo Bars!").

All of the love and support that Lisa received throughout the past year brought her tremendous joy and comfort. Lisa's family would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Shaqil Kassam of Stronach Regional Cancer Centre for his care and dedication; and to the Southlake Palliative and Support Care team.

In honour of Lisa, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion at 707 Srigley Street in Newmarket on Saturday January 6th, 2018, from 1 PM to 4 PM.

If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, designated to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre.
