RISK, Mary Margaret (nee DAMER)  - Peacefully, in the early hours of December 27, 2017 at Scarborough Centenary Hospital with her daughters at her side.

Mary was in her 93rd year and had, of late, been in declining health but able to stay at home until the last hours thanks to wonderful caregivers (too many to mention, but special thanks to Maureen, Charisse, Jami and Angela).

As a child, Mary came with her family from Edinburgh, Scotland to Canada and had an early and brilliant career in Canadian theatre, radio and television with her first professional role at the age of 17; she was a pioneer and life member of ACTRA. Through a bizarre twist of fate, her invitation from Tyrone Guthrie to join the first year company of the Stratford Festival went astray and when recovered, it was too late.

She dedicated the greater part of her life to making a warm home for art director Jim Risk, her devoted husband of 53 years (died 2011) and two loving daughters Andrea (Julian Mulock) and Elaine (Chris Ruscitti).

She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her daughters and their partners and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

There is to be no formal funeral but a gathering in her memory will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund or the Yonge Street Mission.
