AKBARALI, Kamal   - May 29, 1937 - December 15, 2017

Kamal was born in Lahore, Pakistan, as the youngest of the eight children of Sheikh Akbar Ali, a respected lawyer and his dear wife Nur Jehan.

His parents and siblings predeceased him.

In 1965 he arrived in Toronto.

He began a successful career in finance with Ford Credit. In 1985 he was appointed as the Citizenship Judge for Peel Region, a position well suited to him due to his outgoing personality and desire to assist and mentor people, especially new immigrants.

After retirement he worked a few years part-time as a Parole Board member, another challenge he enjoyed. Kamal is dearly missed by Tanja (nee Koskinen), his life partner of fifty years, his loving daughters Jasmine (Alan) and Petrina (Phil Taylor) of whom he was very proud and adored and adoring grandchildren Bianca, Isabella, Maija, Eeva, Lukas, Brooke and Leila.

His loss is also deeply felt by his relatives and friends in Canada, Pakistan, Finland and England, who were close to his heart.

A private funeral and Quran Khawani and Dua have taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be on Sunday, January 28th from 2 to 5 p.m. at St. George's Golf and Country Club, 1668 Islington Ave., Etobicoke.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Trillium Health Partners or UNHCR for Rohingya refugees would be appreciated.
