During his youth, from age 11 to 15, he was interned in Japanese camps mostly away from his parents.

He finished his schooling in Holland and came to Canada in 1951 as a young adult. Rudi worked up North in the mining and lumber camps.

Relocating to Vancouver and Toronto, Rudi worked menial jobs until he realized that a higher education was necessary.

Enrolling at University of Toronto and Seneca College, he completed his CMA and CPA designations and was employed with Canada Post and CNR.

Rudi enjoyed travelling with his partner Edna Rigby for 27 years throughout Europe and the United States.

He took pleasure in his later years living in a condo in Hoggs Hollow.
