MacCRIMMON, Alison  - With family at her side, Alison MacCrimmon died January 14, 2018, after a brief illness.

Born August 12, 1926, Alison lived her life with passion.

A quick wit, a brilliant thinker, a loving friend and an unparalleled aunt, Alison was a feminist from the get-go and she never backed away from a challenge or an adventure.

As a young woman, she was an entrepreneur, starting a successful business with three girlfriends in 1950s Montreal. In her early 40s, she looked cancer in the eye and beat it and for the next five decades she travelled the world extensively with her dear friend Jean.

Alison loved music and reading, plays and movies, and she was a lifelong supporter of the arts wherever she lived. She could fix a car; she could finish cryptic crosswords; she could catch, clean and cook your dinner; and she could bring you to your knees with her razor-sharp wit.

She had a wonderful life and enjoyed every minute of it until her dementia became severe.

Alison was predeceased by her parents, Henry J. and Alison B. MacCrimmon, by her brother, M. Armstrong, and sister-in-law, Connie, and by her adored sister, Morag, and brother-in-law, Jack Irvine.

Alison will be lovingly remembered and missed by her best friend and travel companion, Jean Morrison, by her nieces and nephews, her namesakes and her many friends. Alison considered herself so lucky to have lived the life she lived – and, for those she's left behind, we know how lucky we were to have had her in ours. Truly, she was one of a kind.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

At Alison's request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
