Paterson BarbaraPATERSON, Barbara (nee HUGHES), R.N.   - January 13, 1938 - January 12, 2018

In the evening, the day before her 80th birthday, with loved ones at her side, our beautiful Barbara left this world.

She is free now from the disease which limited her quality of life for over four years and the tumor which ultimately took her from us in the end.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 48 years James Waugh Paterson, daughters Lesley and Claire, granddaughter Helena and sons-in-law T.J. and Michael.

She will also be remembered by her beloved sisters and their spouses Betty (Frank) and Joyce (Alec) as well as her many nieces and nephews. She has gone to be with her much loved parents James and Agnes and her three beloved brothers Robert, James and Ernest.

Barbara was born in the village of Torrance, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1967. She started her nursing career at the age of 17 in Glasgow and dedicated herself to the care of others for her whole career and into her retirement. Barbara was a loving, strong Mother and Grandmother.

She was the force that held us all together. We will miss you everyday Mom but are grateful for the love you gave and the years that we shared with you.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (115 St. Andrews Rd., Scarborough), a funeral service will be held in the church following visitation at 11 a.m. Burial to follow.
