SAFFREY, Frederick - Frederick Henry Saffrey passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017 at the age of 94.
Loving husband of the late Doris Saffrey (Tozer), proud father of Deborah Northway (Chris), Eric (Linda), Edward (Deb) and Owen (Leslie), cherished grandfather of Lindsay (Mike), Dan (Jules), Heather (Steve), John (Brooke), Kevin (Melanie) and Keirra.
Frederick treasured his great-grandchildren Ben, Elsie, Mackenzie, Matthew and baby Haileigh.
Dear brother of the late Roy Saffrey (Mary).
Fred will be missed by dear cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends were very important to Fred.
He was a Toronto Star carrier in his youth, a naval signalman during WWII, a longtime typesetter at Cooper and Beatty Ltd., a committed volunteer for minor hockey and loved working in his garden.
Sincere thanks to the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, Gibson Retirement Residence and North York General Hospital.
A private cremation and family remembrance has taken place.
