WOODS, Dr. Lorna Jane (Rusty) (nee Dow)  - July 15, 1926 - February 17, 2018

Died peacefully in Toronto at Kensington Hospice in her 92nd year, after a battle with Cancer.

Predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Woods (1996), her father, Dr. William W. Dow (1949) and her mother, Grace Marian Lillian Dow (nee Medland) (2006) and sister Gloria Medland Stewart (née Dow) (2016).

Lorna Jane was born in Toronto and attended St. Mildred's College and Havergal College, before earning her Medical Degree from the University of Toronto.

She was in the first Medical class (5T1) at the University of Toronto where 30% of the class were women. She was a proud member and Secretary Treasurer of the Daffydils. She worked at the Toronto Western Hospital in radiology, before marrying in 1953 and starting a family.

Later she completed her residency in Psychiatry at the Clarke Institute, and practiced until she retired in 1996 as a General Practitioner specializing in Psychiatry. Survived by her children Deborah Jane Lyons (Gregorio Rodrigues, deceased 2017), Jeffrey Spence Lyons and Rebecca Lyons-Knowling (Garry Knowling). She also leaves behind her nephews, Nigel Stephens (Andrea Macmillan) and Timothy Stephens (David Douglas) and grandnieces, Emily Stephens and Charlotte Stephens. Lorna Jane was a loving and devoted mother with a great sense of elegance and humour. The family is very grateful to Amica Bayview Gardens, Alec Badley and all the very kind staff there.

Special thanks to Dr. Christina Kim, of Odette Cancer Centre for all of her care. Extremely grateful, to all of the staff at Kensington Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Johns York Mills Anglican Church on Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m., with reception.
