AKEHURST, E. Mary - Just after her 93rd birthday, Mary passed away peacefully on March 20, 2018.
She was predeceased by her loving husband (Peter) and will be greatly missed by her daughters Susan (Erik, deceased), Rosemary, Janice (Ron), grandchildren Lisa (Lino), Jennifer, Sarah (Tyler), Andrew and Kelly, and her 6 great-grandchildren.
Mary came to Canada in 1949 from North Berwick, Scotland to join her husband Peter.
After years of hard work, they bought a home and settled into life in the Cabbagetown district of Toronto, where they were both active in community life for 50 years.
Mary loved her family as dearly as they loved her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Hospital Palliative Care Unit or your favourite charity would be appreciated.
A private family memorial will be held in April.
