TRAINOR, Susan Trainor

Susan Trainor
December 3, 2024
Susan Trainor of Ancaster passed away quietly on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, at the age of 69, after a prolonged battle with dementia.
Sue was the daughter of Roger and Margaret Lillie, niece of Liz Tennant, loving wife of 44 years of Rhod Trainor, and loving sister to Ron (Sue), Barb, and Ian (Sharon). Her fun-loving nature lives on through her three children Katie (Keeks), Michael (Meeks), and Kurtis, her son-in-law Tom, her two grandchildren Eli and Hank, 12 nieces and nephews, and her favorite grand-dog Lucy.
Sue was a lifelong animal lover, competing from a young age in horse show-jumping and riding in Streetsville, Ontario. She studied at the University of Guelph, earning a B.Sc. in Child Studies, where she met Rhod, whom she married in 1980. After completing Teachers College, Sue worked as a preschool teacher before dedicating herself to her family as a full-time household manager, coach, and caregiver.
Sue and Rhod lived in Port Elgin and St. Thomas before settling in Ancaster in 1990, where she developed a passion for golf and curling. Sue was an avid member of the Dundas Granite Curling Club and volunteered at the Hamilton Brier as a scorer while coaching her sons in competitive curling. She enjoyed golf as a member at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, even winning the A-Flight championship two years in a row. Her last birdie was on March 21, 2021, on the par 3 4th hole of the short course during the pandemic, a memory cherished by her family.
Sue will be remembered for her characteristic day-long coffees, long chats, coaching and cheering her kids in sports, her legendary one-time backyard keg stand, and her social, competitive, and fun-loving spirit. Above all, she will be remembered for her love and commitment to her family and the pride she had in her husband and children.
The Trainor family is deeply grateful to her friends, family, and the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa for their love and compassionate care for Susan.
