David Ion Trant
1966 - 2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of David Ion Trant, who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the age of 58, following a short illness.
Dave was the beloved husband of Sheila (née Emmerson) and a devoted brother to Hope and her husband, Rod Moyes, of Wellington, Ontario. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and grandniece.
Wit, artist, and cad—Dave lived an interesting life, with no regrets other than leaving us too soon. His days were filled with laughter, punctuated by countless puns. A natural athlete, he enjoyed vintage motorcycle racing, golf, curling, kayaking, badminton, and more recently, pickleball. His greatest passions were archery, fishing, and boating on his Jeanneau NC795. He treasured his Moto Guzzi Breva, a special 50th birthday gift.
Animals were drawn to him, and he loved them in return. He and Sheila shared many adventures together, traveling often, including cherished trips with friends to explore their family history in Newfoundland and Ireland. Above all, Dave was Sheila’s best friend, and for 33 years, they built a life filled with love and laughter.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry, Ontario (905-985-2171).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the
