Wendy Lorraine Westcott (Ryans)
February 2, 1949 - November 11, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wendy Lorraine Westcott, who left us peacefully on November 11, 2024, at Simcoe Hospice in Barrie, Ontario. Born in Etobicoke, Ontario, on February 2, 1949, Wendy was the eldest of three children, daughter of Albert and Dorothy Ryans. She was a beloved sister to her brothers, Tom (Diane) and Peter (Cheryl-Ann), who remained close to her throughout her life. Wendy was the devoted wife of Ross Westcott Jr. and a proud, loving mother to Ryan (Kate) and Darryl (Meaghan). Her grandchildren, Charlotte, Benjamin (Benny), and Scotlyn (Scoti), were her pride and joy, filling her life with laughter and love.
Wendy’s passion for teaching and education began early, and she dedicated her career to shaping young minds, spending many fulfilling years as a beloved Kindergarten teacher at Brechin Public School. Known for her warmth and patience, Wendy impacted the lives of countless students and was remembered fondly by both her colleagues and the community.
Embracing rural life, Wendy and Ross renovated the century-old farmhouse on the Westcott family farm in Beaverton, transforming it into a welcoming home filled with tradition and beauty. Wendy took joy in hosting family gatherings and creating a warm, inviting space for friends and loved ones.
A private family visitation and burial will be held. A celebration of Wendy’s life will take place at the Beacan Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday, November 16th from 2:30-4:30 P.M. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson's Canada would be appreciated by the family.
