Cottrell WilliamCOTTRELL, William 'Bill' - Passed away peacefully in his 92nd year at the Juravinski Hospital on August 31, 2017.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Ellen, daughter June and son Jim. Loving father to his daughters Linda (Larry) VanKuren, Ruth (Ray) Thomson, Roberta (Gary) McKechnie and his sons Bill (Lois) and Don (Kimberly Ehler).

Proud Grandpa of 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Bill was a lifelong employee of The City of Hamilton and ended his career as the Department Head of the Parking Authority where he oversaw the acquisition of many of the parking lots we use today.

He loved the outdoors and in 1967 bought the first of two lots on Sky Lake in the Bruce Peninsula where his family, any and all friends spent many happy days. He and Ellen were avid world travelers and in later life took up golf and scuba diving.

He was a WWII veteran where he served with the Armoured Division of the Royal Canadian Dragoons. Bill was a member of the Triangle Action and Gemini groups for more than 66 years.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kathy Walker and her team for their skilled and compassionate care. “Willie” loved Dr. Walker and often remarked that she is the smartest person he knows.

A memorial service will be held on September 16th at 11 a.m. at Lynden Park Community Church, 484 East 16th Street in Hamilton. A Celebration of Life to follow from 12 until 2 p.m.
