Thorpe BillTHORPE, William Alfred 'Bill'  - (1939 - 2020) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, William (Bill), on Friday July 31, 2020 at Brampton Civic Hospital.

Born to loving parents Frank & Lillian (both deceased) and raised in East York (Toronto). Bill met his future wife Jayrene at Rolph-Clark-Stone where they both worked and they married in 1966.

Loving husband for 54 years to Jayrene (Jay), father to Debbie Heidtke, Grandpa to Stephanie (Hendrik) Ottevanger & Lori Heidtke, Great-Grandpa to Alexandria & Katherine Ottevanger.

Brother to Raymond (deceased), Don (Ann), Jim (Joan) & Robert (Bianca). Uncle Billy to his nieces and nephews.

In his youth he participated in many sports (baseball, football, hockey & curling), but his greatest love was for Standardbred horse racing as a breeder, owner, trainer and driver of so many horses from his very first “Groundhog Time” to his last “Kingrated."  Win or lose, he took enormous pride and great pleasure in the sport and the many, many friends he met along the way.

The family would like to thank the hospital staff at Brampton Civic who looked after Bill in his last days, especially the wonderful nurses and doctors in Palliative care, and our many wonderful and caring neighbours.

Memorial Visitation arrangements (WITH RESTRICTIONS) with Andrews funeral home, Brampton.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
