OCZKO, Zygmunt 'Ziggy' - It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Zygmunt (Ziggy) Oczko in his 100th year in London, Ontario.
He is now with his beloved wife Eva Genevieve (Jennie) as well as his son Michael in Heaven.
May his soul rest in peace.
He leaves behind his daughters Susan Stephenson and Barbara (Scott) Beavis, his beloved grandchildren Laura (Jason), Timm (Shannon), Edward (Kristina) and Jennifer (Jamie), great-grandchildren Maddie, Ally, Austin, Kadence, Ben, Will, Evelyn and Liam, and family members Brian (Karen) Grys and family, Bonnie Grys, Bozena (Bob) Rodeghiero and family, and various family members in Poland.
He was very involved in all religious activities in St. Gertrude’s Parish in Oshawa, Ontario and was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus.
Ziggy was very involved in the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Gertrude’s Parish for many, many years, at one point serving as president. He also worked at the St. Vincent’s Kitchen volunteering his time enthusiastically. He enjoyed interacting with the many people he encountered. Ziggy also organized children going to Mary Grove Camp in the summer.
In his 80s, Ziggy wrote out his memoirs chronicling the years from his teens, through his time with the Polish Air Force, up to the time when he met and married his wife Jennie in Toronto. Many have read and enjoyed his story.
Ziggy once mentioned that he was blessed with the beginning of every new day and that every new day was a day closer to his dear Jennie. Well Dad, you and Mum are together again.
