McKINNELL, David Alexander McKinnell  -  Held in love, David passed away on July 30, 2023.

 

He leaves behind his wife Earla for 33 years and his children Nancy, Don, and Brenda and David who predeceased him and Jonathan (Jenny), stepchildren Matthew (Sharon), Christa (Doug) and Jason. 

 

He was born in July 1930 At Montreal, Quebec and died July 30 at Bowmanville Lakeridge Hospital in his 93rd year.

David was the adoptive son of Margaret and Dean McKinnell now predeceased.

 

He grew up in Montreal as an English child in a French environment. He worked a few different jobs until he joined the Air Force in September of 1951, and retired as Captain in September of 1977.

 

After leaving the Air Force David entered Toronto University to gain his  Bachelor of Divinity.  After achieving this he then served in Toronto, Saskatchewan and here at Enniskillen- Tyrone Pastoral Charge. At the time of his death he had served at least 30 or more years as an Ordained Minister.

 

David was a man of great courage and profound love. He overcame obstacles that many do not even try to acknowledge. He was a man of keen intelligence and a profound thinker. He was always striving to learn more about the world and life. 

 

He has left an indelible footprint upon the world and the lives he touched upon the way.

 

A Celebration of David’s life will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home53 Division Street North Bowmanville on Sunday August 6th from 2 – 4 pm.

 

Memorial Donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or Hearth Place.
