Steve (Settimio) Canonico, aged 81, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2024, surrounded by his family at Oak Ridge's Hospice in Port Perry.

Born on February 10, 1943, in Lago, Cosenza, Italy, he was the beloved son of Francesco and Christina Canonico.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Canonico, children Mena Canonico, Dean (Cathy) Canonico, Frank (Kim) Canonico, Miranda (Tyler) Cairns and Carina Canonico (David Gazaille).

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Justin Gagné (Mélanie), Steven Canonico, Sam Canonico, Dana Canonico (James), Oliver Cairns, Hayden Cairns, and Millie Canonico Gazaille.

Also surviving are two sisters, Rachele Perro, Antonietta Mazzotta, and sister-in-law Clementina Molica. He was predeceased by siblings Luigi, Filomena, Raffaele and Salvatore.

Steve led a rich and varied life, embracing a range of interests. His days were filled with tending to his vegetable garden, making wine, enjoying time at the cottage, watching sports, and most importantly, spending quality time with family. Among his cherished traditions, making salami stood out as a time when loved ones gathered and lasting memories were made.

Steve will be remembered as a hard worker who was dedicated to his family and friends. He valued those close to him more than anything else.

His wisdom, humor, and integrity will be qualities that his family and friends remember and carry forward with them.

A private tribute for Steve will take place at a later date.
