Carson TaruCARSON, Taru Anneli "Anne" Carson  -

October 5, 1941 - February 17, 2024

 

Anne Carson née Taru Anneli Jalasjaa passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Estates with her husband at her side.

 

Survived by her husband William David Carson, her son Christopher Patrick, sister Terry Fairey, brother Bert Jalasjaa, nephew’s Alan Jalasjaa and wife Laura Kacur, Jason Pollard and niece Tuula Jalasjaa and her daughters Rachel and Loran.

 

Anne was born in Helsinki Finland to parents Eino Evald and Irja Armida Jalasjaa.

 

The family immigrate to Canada with Enio coming first and family following a year later travelling across Canada by train to settle in Golden British Columbia.

 

The first year was challenging as Anne at the age of eleven, although academically strong she first had to learn the English language which she did with ease.

 

The family decided to move to Nova Scotia to work with a relative for a year and then on to Oshawa where they would settle down.

 

Anne excelled academically in school and then on to a career as a Laboratory Technician at Oshawa General hospital and the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal.

 

In 1963 Anne married her husband William Carson in Grace Lutheran Church Oshawa. Anne was a devote Christian raised in the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshawa and was a very active member of the choir and the Ladies of Grace.

 

Anne was also a member of LWML Lutheran women’s missionary league where she served on the executive committee and the by-laws committee as the chair.

 

Anne was also committed to mission work here in Canada and in Nicaragua. Anne loved the outdoors, cross-country skiing, cottage life and of course the sauna, a ritual and way of life that she began before she was a year old and for the rest of her life. Anne loved travel and would accompany her husband as they travelled the world together.

 

Anne was a lover of arts and crafts as was demonstrated in her paintings and needle work. Annes final years were spent at Hillsdale Estates Oshawa.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday February 22nd, 2024 from 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (540 Cromwell Ave., Oshawa) on Friday February 23rd, 2024 at 11am with visitation one hour prior.

 

Donations in memory of Anne to Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Grace Lutheran Church or Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary would be appreciated.
