Mitchell JohnMITCHELL, John Thomas "Tom"  -  Passed away after a brief battle of cancer with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, March 4, 2024 in his 79th year.

 

Tom, beloved husband of Sharlene (nee Brack) of 52 years.

 

Loving father of Allison (Gary Begner), Courtney (Bob Storey) and the late Marci. Proud grandpa of Leah Storey.

 

Dear brother of George "Bud" (Ruth), Clara (Bob Mallette), Robert (Linda) and the late June (Jack Cochrane), James and Margaret.

Predeceased by his parents Joe and Julie Mitchell.

 

Brother in law of Angela (Paul Bosy).

 

Son in law of the late John and Roma Brack.  Tom will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Tom took great pride in his 40 year career as a retail meat cutter, the majority of which was at the Rossland Square Plaza Miracle Food Mart / A&P / Metro. Throughout his life, Tom had many interests and hobbies.

 

When his daughters were younger, he was a dedicated softball coach and loved to play sports and games with his girls.

 

He was also a lifetime Oshawa Generals and Boston Bruins fan. He had a passion for travelling with family and friends, and especially during his retirement years, he had the frequent opportunity to travel far and wide with his wife by his side. When reflecting on his life, he mentioned how full a life it had been.

 

He saw more in his life than he had ever dreamed possible.A special thank you to the staff of 4F Supportive Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for compassion and support during his final days.Family and friends will be received at  MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 21 Garrard Road (North of Hwy 2), Whitby 905-443-3376 on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 12:30 pm until the time of memorial service in the chapel at 1:30 pm.In memory of Tom, donations to Lakeridge Health Foundation Supportive Care Unit 4F would be appreciated.
