NELSON, David  - The family of David Nelson sadly announce his passing on November 2, 2018 after 2 weeks of palliative care at Hamilton General.

David was a life-long learner, a voracious reader and researcher.

A music, opera expert and a fine model maker, not to mention a unique sense of humour.

He was an enthusiastic athlete with golf at Big Cedar, Summit, The National and Big Bay Point in addition to squash at The Granite Club and Hart House.

He encouraged his family to become athletes. David held Vice President positions at Doubleday Canada, McGraw-Hill and worked with John Allen at Thomas Allen. His publishing vision was to provide his authors and book stores the best possible service and support.

The son of George and Lilly Nelson, David was happiest when he gathered and amused his children at the family cottage at Big Cedar Point. His children are Reed and Jill Nelson, Francie Nelson Mitchell and Tibbie and Fraser Clark.

Grandchildren are Emma and Ben Clark and Meredith and Jennifer Nelson. His wife Frances is filled with wonderful memories of 68 years together.

We all honour the total support and care given by his daughter Tibbie and brother-in-law Dr. David R. F. Smith.

A family celebration will be held.
