Rosborough ClaudeROSBOROUGH, Claude Grant - It is with deep sadness that we announce, with family by his side, the peaceful passing of Claude Grant Rosborough on December 15, 2018 at Southlake Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle.

Claude was born in Harvey, NB, 91 years ago on September 18, 1927 to the late Sterling and Blanche (Rose) Rosborough.

Claude worked very hard his entire life. He started his working career at a young age in various lumber camps in New Brunswick where he developed his skills and unrelenting work ethic as a woodsman and lumberjack, he then bravely decided to embark on his own journey which led him to Ottawa where he began to build greenhouses, which ultimately led him to live in Newmarket when he was hired to build greenhouses, for which he didn’t know at the time, was for his future wife’s (Marlene) family.

Moving forward from there he ran a large scale lumberyard in Newmarket for many years until he opened his own contracting business as a framing and finish Carpenter which is how he spent the remaining, and as he said, the happiest and most rewarding, working years of his life. Claude was known as someone who could build or fix anything – if it could be done, he would find a way.

Claude was a lifetime member of the York Curling Club and loved the years he spent on the ice. When curling season was over, it was then time to hit the golf course – with many of his curling friends. At home, Claude could be found in his garden planting and growing just about anything or busy in his workshop fixing or creating various projects. Not to mention the many hours he spent at the BBQ grilling a feast to enjoy with his family. Spending time with his family was what he loved most.

Claude is survived and will be forever missed by his children Ryan and Dyan (Jason) and grandchildren, Ian, Ava and Evan. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marlene, since 2009. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Isobel Jackson (Robert ) of Meaford, ON and sisters-in-law Catherine Rosborough (Laurence) of Douglas, NB and Noreen Rosborough (Lloyd) of Smithfield, NB. He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews and friends from throughout his many years.

Claude was predeceased by his sisters Jean and Joyce and brothers, George, Doug, Malcolm, Laurence and Lloyd, along with their spouses, Lena, Audrey, Florence, Herb and Charlie.

The family would like to thank the many friends and family that and took the time from their busy schedules to support them through this difficult time. Also, a special thank you goes out to those involved with the York Curling Club who provided extra support in honour of Claude’s legacy as a founding member.

Visitation for Claude will be held on Saturday, December 22nd from 10 - 11 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m.

Contributions in Claude's memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation, https://www.heartandstroke.ca/; OR Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, https://www.southlakefoundation.ca/.

Forever gone but never forgotten.
