Bass HelenBASS, Helen Marina (nee ARSENAULT)   - November 29, 1934 - January 14, 2019

Passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 84 on January 14, 2019 with her loving children at her side.

Born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, to late parents Walter and Vera (nee Clow) Arsenault.

Predeceased by loving husband Reginald Frank Bass (2005), beloved brother Donald Louis Arsenault (2012) and beloved son-in-law David Raymond Kirkpatrick (July 29, 2018).

Beloved mother of Stephanie Kirkpatrick (David), Cynthia Bass (Ron Dollekamp) and Gregory Bass (Anne Gilford).

At only 18, Helen arrived in Toronto, eventually working at McBee (printing) where she caught the eye of Reg Bass. They soon married and had three children.

She then worked at Alex Irvine Motors, always representing the company with her impeccable style.

After retiring, Helen became captivated with gardening. The center of attention was her treasured fish pond and waterfall, topped by a mermaid sculpture dubbed 'Marina' after her own middle name.

Helen could engage you in hours of discussion with her vast knowledge of Canadian, French and British history. Undoubtedly, she was proud of her Acadian ancestry from the earliest French settlers of Prince Edward Island.

Helen was also an animal lover, having shared her life with many dogs, cats, the fish in her pond and feeding wild birds. She was a staunch supporter of animal welfare, donating generously.

Helen will be sorely missed by her extended family, and by her wonderful neighbours.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the spring.
