McMeeken GeorgeMcMEEKEN, George Robert Stephen - I am heartbroken to announce the passing of my best friend and husband, George Robert Stephen McMeeken, aged 86, on December 20, 2020.

George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doreen, and was the proud Dad to Renee, and Grampa to much loved Andrew.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Bernice (Staughton) and his brothers, sisters and spouses; Janet, Ethel, (T. Walace, L. Goodman), Robert, twins Thelma (J. Robathan), and Barbara (R. Kane, J. Radcliffe),John (Ginger Lachoto). Survived by many McMeeken cousins, and three generations of nieces and nephews.

George owned McMeeken Heating Service as a contractor and was a Driver for Coach Canada.

George was always active in sports such as freshwater and deep sea fishing, baseball catcher (George’s Sweathogs), downhill skiing, skating, swimming, snorkeling, jogging, squash and later snooker. George was a longtime member of The Skyline Health Club, Square One YMCA, and The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 286.

Arrangements entrusted with Ridley funeral home, Etobicoke. George will be cremated and will join The McMeekens in Maplewood Cemetery, north of Mount Forest ON.

We are forever grateful for the years of medical care provided by Dr. David Daien, Sunnybrook surgeons Drs. D. Nam and H. Kreder, Sherway Lifelabs staff and Chiropractor Verne Thompson (deceased).

Please consider donations in Georgre’s name to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 286, 11 Irwin Rd. Etobicoke, On, M9W 2P6.

As the young staff at the YMCA would announce, “Attention Please - George has left the building."
