SALVATORE, Filomena (Ruggiero) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother and nonna, Filomena on December 25, 2020 in her 89th year.
Filomena was born on November 26, 1931 in Accadia, Foggia, Italy to Gennaro and Carmela Ruggerio (both predeceased).
She came to Canada in 1955 and settled in Sudbury, Ontario where she started her family with her late husband Michele Salvatore.
She was the loving mother to Frank (Carol), Gerry (Gabriela), Sam (Jody), Carmen (Norm) and Roger (Tracy) and a cherished Nonna to 14 grandchildren (Melissa, Andrea, Jordan, Danielle, Sarah, Michael, Robyn, Erica, Adam, Scott, Ryan, Jenna, Jacquelin and Matthew) and 2 great-grandchildren (Scott and Emma).
Filomena leaves behind many relatives in Italy and Canada including her sister Cenzina DeBellis. Her other siblings Nino, Lucia, Rosa and Serafina are predeceased.
Filomena loved being with her family and many memories were made sitting around the dinner table enjoying meals together. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to play her favourite card games and making her famous cakes, gnocchi, lasagna and cookies.

A celebration of life and burial will take place at a later date. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario would be appreciated.
