La Mantia GiuseppeLa MANTIA, Giuseppe - (September 29, 1934 to January 30, 2021)

Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital at the age of 86.

Predeceased by his parents Mariano and Maria, and by his sisters Provvidenza, Maria and Concetta.

Giuseppe will be greatly missed by his devoted nephews John Liotta, Michael Liotta, Joseph Caruso, Mario Caruso, Anthony Caruso, Simone Di Lisi, Mariano Di Lisi, Antonino Di Lisi, Giuseppe Di Lisi and their families.

Giuseppe will also be missed by his many friends here in Canada and in Italy.

Giuseppe was born on September 29, 1934 in Termini Imerese, Sicily, Italy where he followed in the tradition of farming his father’s land. However when his parents and oldest sister, Provvidenza, were deceased he decided to emigrate to Toronto to join his sisters, Maria and Concetta where he worked in their grocery business. He maintained his deep roots to his hometown as a longtime and very active member of the Club Termini.

Giuseppe had a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother and was a longtime fratello of the Confraternita Di Maria S.S. Immacolata di Toronto. He was always deeply connected to his church community, from St. Anthony’s in Toronto, later St. Catherine of Siena in Mississauga and finally at St. Margaret Mary Church in Woodbridge, where he was a longtime active member and minister of communion.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral service and entombment will be private. The family has provided the opportunity to view the Zoom service from the comfort of your own home. Please visit the website of Ward funeral homes, WOODBRIDGE chapel, click on Mr. La Mantia's memorial page, then click "Photos and Videos" for the link under webcast prior to Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00AM.
