Kopti OlgaKOPTI, Olga (KUIVA)   - October 29, 1922 - Narva-Jõesuu March 20, 2021 - Toronto

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

At home under palliative care, Olly went to her eternal rest with her daughter by her side as she quietly took her last breath.

Born in Narva-Jõesuu in Estonia, she escaped the horrors of the Soviet Russian occupation with her husband Warmuth in 1944.

Their perilous journey through wartime Germany brought them to refugee camps.

Their daughter Heli was born in Schleswig in 1946. Canada took them in as refugees in 1948.

They lived in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) where son Harry was born in 1950.

Olly and Warry worked hard all of their lives to ensure their family's well-being and their children's future.

They finally moved to Toronto in 2001 to be near their son and daughter who had established their lives there after university. Harry and Ene (Medri) gave them two beautiful granddaughters, Kristi and Karin, who were their grandparents' pride and joy.

Warry died in 2008. He did not get to see their great-grandson, Aiden, who was born in 2015 to Karin and Ryan Sterling - a beautiful boy, the apple of Olly's eye!

Olly continued to be active in our Estonian community, lending her many talents and support to several organizations; most important to her was St. Andrew's Estonian (Ev. Lutheran) Congregation in Toronto at Agricola.

Her many friends will miss her kindness and thoughtfulness, her sense of fun and her eternal optimism.

Olly was profoundly grateful for her life in Canada and fiercely hopeful for the future of her homeland. She will be dearly missed by her relatives in Estonia and Latvia.

The Kopti family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all those at Toronto Central LHIN, who supported us through all the necessary procedures, allowing Olly's last days to be as comfortable as possible; Kim Logan who initiated the program that the Spectrum team put in place; Thandi Briggs and the army of nurses (Beth) and therapists, PSWs that attended in care for the month since February 19th; the Temmy Letner Centre for Palliative Care; Dr. Schneider and his colleagues.

Thank you all for your compassionate support. Heli wishes especially to thank Delores Mitchell, her PSW.

Without her extraordinary (Split Shift) attendance, she could of not have survived the long days of care for her mother.

God bless you all and give you the strength to continue your work.

A cremation will take place, and when time allows, Olly's ashes will be interred with her husband's at York Cemetery with family in attendance.  A memorial will take place at some time in the future.

Rest in Peace, Dear Mammi.
