GLANC, Joneson - 98, of Toronto, Ontario passed peacefully on March 25, 2021.
He was famous for his jovial smiles and willingness to share a kiddush and a story. His loved ones will remember his resilience, his determination, his devotion to his family and the Jewish community, his fierce protection, and his warmth, especially towards his beloved grandchildren.
Jonas took pride in his successful rebuilding of life after the war; setting up business (Lindy's Textiles for over 50 years) in Montreal with Esther, and becoming the patriarch of a Jewish family. He was deeply committed to the Jewish Community, and found a second home upon moving to Toronto, at the Beth Shalom Synagogue.
Jonas leaves his loving wife Esther ("Estie my Shvestie"); his children Phyllis (Stephen) and Simon (Lynn), grandchildren Jason (Danielle), Lisa (Erez), Daniel, Michael, and Alixandra; and great-grandchildren Charley, Asher, and Adam.
He is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lily. ( sister, Shaya and brother, Baruch.
A Family graveside service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 and live viewing is available through the Benjamin's website. Due to the Pesach holiday, Shiva will be limited to a brief period following the funeral for immediate family.
