Menezes EdMENEZES, Edmund John - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edmund, age 92, who died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday April 22, 2021. Edmund died the way he lived, with quiet dignity and full of Grace.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Beryl Menezes (nee Francis), children Derek (Rita), Andrea, Heather (Ian) and Jeanette (Sean) and grandchildren Neesa and Samaya.

He will also be missed by his extraordinary PSWs and caregivers: Shirley, Lydia, Saadia, Julie, Melissa, Bumi and Hinna.

Throughout his lifetime, Edmund planted seeds of kindness and goodness in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know him.

Edmund was born on November 24, 1928, in Belgaum, India, to Epifanio and Mary Menezes. He was the youngest brother of Father Eddie, Sister Amelia, Eustace and Rosie.

In his early years in Canada, Edmund travelled as far as Peterborough and Sudbury in order to make a living and support his family. Eventually, he worked for the provincial government as a District Manager (West Metro District of Toronto).

Edmund was an extraordinarily loving and dedicated family man. His wife Beryl was the apple of his eye, and he would truly do anything for her. He encouraged his children to forge their own paths, and supported them joyfully in all their endeavours. He loved spending time with his granddaughters, and took great pride in being their ‘Papa’. Edmund’s deep and abiding faith in God allowed him to move through life with acceptance, peace and confidence.

Generous and warm-hearted, charming and sincere, Edmund lifted the spirits of everyone who crossed his path. He will be forever remembered for his mischievous grin, sparkling humour, gentle heart and for the countless acts of unassuming kindness that defined his life.

In light of current COVID restrictions, a funeral mass and memorial service will be announced at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity of your choice.
