Hayes SydneyHAYES, Sydney Lawrence   - April 13, 1950 – May 19, 2021

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Syd Hayes, after a lengthy battle with lung disease.

He passed quietly at home with family by his side and a hockey game on TV.

He is at peace with his wife of more than 40 years, Susan, who passed in 2014. He will be greatly missed by daughter Meagan (Adrian) and son Jackson (Michelle).

A loving gramps/gaga to Morgan, Chase and Sawyer and big brother to Nina, Suzie, Ian, Shelley and Pete.

Raised in Richmond Hill as the eldest of Jack and Jean's six kids, Syd raised hell at Bayview High School and eventually married the petite girl he once locked in a locker.

He worked his way into management at Town Auto Body, where he co-owned the operation for more than 30 years.

A dedicated hockey dad, accomplished home cook and armchair singer/songwriter, Syd was a man of honour and principle.

He was a friend to many who possessed a sharp wit, deep stare and strong handshake.

Though it pains us to say goodbye, we know he's dancing with Susan in the living room once again.

In lieu of flowers or donation, he would likely tell you to do something that makes you happy.
