Gardonio ErminiaGARDONIO, Erminia - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erminia / Zia on Saturday June 26, 2021 in her 96th year.

She was devoted, caring, generous, and loyal to all those she loved. Although she left her homeland of Italy and was determined to embrace all things Canadian, she never forgot her roots. She was a founding member of Club Nos Da Cordenons where she worked lovingly and tirelessly for many years.

Erminia met life with guts and determination. She was a champion of justice, fairness, and equality. She was also an active staunch supporter and protector of all her family.

She enjoyed and excelled at gardening, bowling, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also loved watching sports and playing Italian card games, but she was happiest in the company of her family and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Genoveffa Gardonio. She leaves behind her sister Salute and brother-in-law Primo, brother Cesare (Predeceased) and sister-in-law Maria. She was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews Claudio (Ada), Joseph (MaryAnne), Sandra (Craig), Mirella (Michael), Sara (Giancarlo), and Walter. She will also be greatly missed by her great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Although her passing leaves a deep ache in our hearts, we will cherish and honour Erminia’s life by remembering a life well lived by our treasure trove of stories and memories.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion.

Erminia will be resting at Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel. Due to Covid, there will be a private family funeral at this time, if you wish to attend virtually please visit the funeral home website for a livestream link on Tuesday June 29th at 2pm.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date when circumstances permit.
