Horton HarryHORTON, Harry Allen   -  Not with bended nor tilted head, but with a slight inhalation, Dad/Papa closed his lovely blue eyes for the last time on July 1, 2021, surrounded by his five sons.

Harry Allen Horton, born 1931, was predeceased by his loving mother, Sarah, kind father, Wilfred, adoring sister, Elsie and loyal brothers, Wilfred and Ralph.

Dad's will to live was evident until his last breath.

Unfortunately, his passion for life: the "terrific" family dinners, birthdays, cottages, Christmases, Easters, Thanksgivings, travel, opera, theatre, tennis and golf, receded upon the death of Betty, his wife, best friend and companion of 62 years. Dad was a proud Engineer, University of Toronto (1954)

He was forged by the fires of his profession and both internalized and lived by the motto: Velut Arbor Aevo ("Like a tree we grow"). He was a creative and passionate employee of Imperial Oil for 40 years.

He was a pioneer in Credit Card Marketing.

Like the tree of the motto he grew throughout the ages. Dad reluctantly leaves behind his five sons, John (Lydia), Brian, David (Kathy), Michael (Ann) and Stephen; nine grandchildren: Sarah (Brady), Matthew (Sandra), Emily, Liam, Mackenzie, Andrew, Jennifer, Thomas (Paula) and William (Anika) and four great-grandchildren: Marcus, Nolan, Abigail and Hendrix. Let the record show that the whole Horton family took up the lion's share of palliative care so Dad could play the "trombone" in the place he and Mom ever-so-loved, home.

And though the demands of care were challenging at times over the 4 months, we will harvest for a lifetime the trove of pearls he offered each of us during this time.

Under COVID restrictions placed upon social gatherings, no visitation will be held.

There will be a family interment at the Glendale Cemetery on July 23rd. In lieu of flowers, take a loved one out to dinner and raise a glass to Dad/Papa/Harry.
