VARDIN, Nicholas - With sadness, we announce the passing of Nicholas on July 9, 2021 at the age of 85.
Cherished husband of Manon Maria and beloved father of Christian (Gina Fernandes) and Elliott (Kim Myers).
Proud grandfather of Melissa, Nicholas, Luke, Sydney and Brooke and dearly missed brother of Roula, Vasso and Irene.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Elias and Olga Vardouniotis, and by his brother, Dimitri, and sister, Helen.
Born in Kiato, Greece, Nicholas arrived in Canada in 1955 and attended Oakwood Collegiate before obtaining his engineering degree from the University of Toronto. Nicholas went to work for the City of Toronto, eventually retiring in 1998 as the Commissioner of Public Works and the Environment and City Engineer.
Following his retirement, Nicholas spent many happy days on the golf course at The Country Club and with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
All of Nicholas’s funeral services will be private for immediate family members only. However, the Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 14th at 1:00 p.m. will be live-streamed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sagecare, 147 Elder Street who provided excellent care for him in his final days.
In memory of Nicholas, donations may be made to the Covenant House Toronto or the Alzheimers Society.
