Gordon BettyGORDON, Betty Ann Jean   -  Peacefully, at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Alliston, after a long battle with vascular dementia, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

Betty (McClain), in her 75th year, beloved wife of Murray Gordon.

Loving mother of Terry (Rebecca Christianson) and Annette (Jeffrey) Purkis.

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Sophie and Oscar Purkis.

Dear sister of Ruth Dermott (Bill) and the late Myrna Kerr.

Fondly remembered by Linda Balsdon and her extended family

 

 

Betty was the middle daughter of Edgar and Florence (Maw) McClain. She graduated from Banting Memorial High School in 1964 and soon after began working at Baxter Labs in Alliston.

After several years she became a civil servant for the Ontario government which lasted from 1969 to 2000. In 1972, she and Murray married and began their family.

Throughout the years she enjoyed singing and volunteering at area churches and Simcoe Manor Long Term Care Home. She will be forever cherished by her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham, on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 100 guests will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. Funeral service will be held, in the chapel, on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in Schomberg Union Cemetery.

Donations in Betty's memory to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
