Courtney DarleneCOURTNEY, Darlene   - October 15, 1945 – August 3, 2021

It is with heartbroken sadness that the family of Darlene Sylvia Courtney (nee Shewchuk) announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Royal Victoria Hospital at the age of 75.

Beloved wife of the late Norman Courtney.

Dear sister of Lovie Veinot and husband Roddy (predeceased), brother Daniel Shewchuk, sister Linda Lafreniere and husband Dennis. Loving Auntie to Sonya, Michael, Derek and Michelle and Great-Auntie to Tyler, Kieran and Douglas.

Darlene was a passionate educator for over 30 years and her genuine care and compassion for her students left a lasting impression on thousands of children throughout her career.

Darlene was known by all for her genuine desire to care for those around her.

Whether it be through her beautiful written messages of support, her phone calls or the hundreds of hours she devoted to volunteering.

Darlene was an avid gardener and nature enthusiast. She was the photographer of the family, always capturing life's greatest moments from behind her lens. She was the queen of the kitchen, always hosting family and friends and serving her made-with-love meals and baked specialties.

Darlene had a curiosity and passion for lifelong learning, her most recent feat was learning a new language.

She was a joyous woman with a true zest for life and always put others before herself.

She will remain in our hearts forever.

Cremation followed by a private family service will be held at Darlene's request.
