Parry ElainePARRY, Frances 'Elaine' (née Vieira) - It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Frances Elaine Parry (née Vieira) at home in the early hours of Thursday, August 12th, 2021, surrounded by her adoring husband and three sons.

Deeply loved by her husband of 66 years, Len; sons Michael, Mark and Richard; and daughters-in-law Debbie, Sarah, Liza and Lesley.

Much loved Nana of James, Jessica, Olivia, Catherine, Diana, Ginny and Julia. Beloved Step-Nana of Shannon (Steven), Lauren (Everett) and Kathleen. Great-Grandmother to Colton and Sawyer.

We are truly grateful for the loving care Elaine received from Audrey, Jonalyn, Rodelia, Joanne and Cristel. Special thanks to Dr. Lisa Del Giudice, Dr. Kate Stead and the many others on the Sunnybrook Team who have cared for Elaine over the years.

Elaine was born in St. John’s, Antigua on August 24th, 1934 to John and Edith Vieira. She is survived by her sisters Marie Alexander of Columbus, Ohio and Agnes Jazwinski of Ponte Vedra, Florida. Elaine was predeceased by her sisters Maggie, Lyda, Joan, Gwen and brother Cyril and Len’s sister Pauline. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply.

Elaine and Len married on June 11th 1955, and together they built a warm and welcoming home not only for their three boys, but for family, neighbours and friends as well. She was a dear friend, confidante and aunt to many – the Grand Dame, the Belle of the Ball, Auntie Mame.

Together with Len she was a founding partner of two family businesses. Throughout her life, Elaine was community-oriented, evident in her political activity at the local, provincial and federal levels, and her many years volunteering and fundraising for local charities. Elaine and Len made time for fun too, travelling extensively throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. Her fondest memories were trips to visit family in Antigua and the United States, and winters spent in Barbados with her friends and family.

Visitation Arrangements and livestream funeral service details are entrusted with the Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, Thornhill.

For those wishing to attend the funeral (not the visitation) please contact Mark at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so we can co-ordinate details by Friday, August 20th. Covid social distancing and masking protocols are in place.
